Harry Nussacs I think that you need a better English teacher- either, that or you need to pay more attention in class; your vocabulary and punctuation are poor and you cannot even write less than a paragraph without practically mumbling it till it’s just some wild amalgamation of what once was a sentence.
jwgeezer not really; I’m interested in learning German and I am doing, but whenever I can, I’ll laugh and engage in some witty ( this is a lie, I have no wit) banter with the people around me and my friends. I’ll find it hard and therefore difficult and a bit of a chore to concentrate on the learning. It’s not that he doesn’t care it’s more that he just has trouble and therefore tried to act funny and cool as a substitute for that.
Not sure bout learning but this was 99.99% pure entertainment.

it's very natural to choose 이 or 가 for Koreans... 😂 sorry.. we cannot explain why....
I think 이 and 가 is choosen defending on 받침. The word with 받침 usually goes with -이가 and one with out the 받침 is just 가. Sometime this role can be ignored, but I don't learn Korean anymore so I forgot 😢

Ollie to me is clearly a kinesthetic learner with a tad bit of visual but not much. The only thing is he’s personality is comedic performative and it’s much too rewarding when he’s ‘bad’ so he purposely and also instinctually learns in a comedic but incorrect way which makes it hard to build or relearn.
But if you remember he learned how to write/ read in Korean in just one plane flight where the where the performative stress wasn’t really there. It was all kinesthetic, and the comedic element was gone because he studied alone. I think he’s subconsciously/ maybe consciously comedic because it gives his social interaction value and takes away from how well he does in the Korean -> as long as he can make people laugh which is something he can rely on since he’s very good at it.
I think Ollie is probably very good at learning but it wouldn’t be nearly as entertaining and deep-down aspects of friendships, good times, good memories/ attitudes are more important than simply the proficiency to him.

P.s. I think maybe if it was equally rewarding for Ollie as it is when he makes everyone laugh he learns faster which I see more and more in the episodes. Good work Ollie, Gabbie, Josh and the other Korean teachers!

I think he's not a visual learner. He is a food and poop driven learner. So you simply need to incorporate fulfilling basic human needs into your lessons. Also, it seems he is learning from his mistakes which certainly is a plus

한국인이 p/f 또 r/l 말하고 듣는거처럼 보통 외국인들은 여거 가지 소리를 처음에 구분할 수도 없어요 익숙해 보면 결국 듣고 발음이 조금 돼요
진지하게ㅎㅎ 똥을 '누다'가 맞는 표현이지요~ (뭐 요즘은 일상생활에서 비속어를 자연스럽게 사용하고 있지만요^^)
동음이의어같은건 아무래도 외국인들에겐 어렵겠죠ㅠ 문맥상으로 파악하는수밖에,,!

You should show him the sentence structures. Like a model he can follow. That way he’ll get used to the language and later when he gets a feel for it, everything will come more naturally to him
Something like:
__ 보다 __ 가/이 __ 더 __ 요
And then you teach him what it means, and he can exchange the words
He could then have like a big list of sentence structures and one day he won’t need it anymore
He's learning off a textbook with exactly that and he's been at it for like 2 years... that's why they're on a hunt for better teachers than Josh HAHA

@@dhiratjoe669 He literally reads a sentence and then there are some minutes of banter. He shouldn't just repeat what they tell him, but also formulate something with some visual aid so he can think for himself too. I know they're recording it and it's entertaining to hear them talk it out (it's hilarious, it usually has me tear up), but there really are more ways of helping him than just having different teachers.

Me learning Korean, realizing i'm like Ollie and that we're both screwed 💀
Ollie's problem I think stems from the fact that he can't differentiate the different phonemes by ear, thus the constant mixing up similar sounding words. He needs to increase his phonemic awareness by practicing listening to the different sounds and correctly identifying them.

Along with that, I think in-general He needs more auditory exposure for Him to pick the pronunciation and intonation as so it's easier for Him once He reads.

that's what i don't get because he's constantly exposed to the language XD there's Gabie and Josh and the staff that converse in Korean a lot of the time, yet Ollie doesn't seem to be able to pick up on the sounds and stuff (he does pick up on some speech patterns though, which is good).
do you have any suggestions about how a person might do that if they don't have korean speakers around them?
I can relate to Ollie on spiritual level, and I'm proud of it.

I'm trying to review the little Korean I learnt last year, plus learning some extra stuff, by watching these videos... So far it was working (I learnt future tenses thanks to JOLLY) until I started watching this one, comparisons are so confusing! But Ollie is so funny, I love how he always find strange connections to everything. And the series of "letting Olly loose in Korea and taking his phone and wallet" you did recently was the best laugh I've had in MONTHS I love what you all are doing, thanks for the quality content!

한국어에서 제일 난이도 높은 건 띄어쓰기라고 생각함. 다른 나라들은 띄어쓰기가 아예 없거나 단어마다 띄어쓰기하면 되는데 한국어는 전혀 그렇지않음. 띄어쓰기 한 거랑 안 한거 뜻 차이도 있고 무엇보다 어디서 띄어도 둘다 말돼서 더 짜증..^^ 예를 들어 못하다 와 못 하다가 있음ㅇㅇ
맞아요.... 이건 토종 한국인도 어려운 부분....
한국인도 백프로 완벽하게 띄어쓰기하는 사람 거의 없을 거 같아여 ㅋㅋㅋ 완벽하게 하려면 국어사전 다 외워야해욬ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

@Liah Min nah. I am Korean and I can assure that he is getting better. Even though it is not perfect, he is actually quite good at reading and understanding Korean words and phrases.

수박이 수박가가 안되는 이유 주격조사 이/가는 앞에 붙는 체언 끝말이 모음이 올 시에는 '~가' 자음이 올 시에는 '~이'가 붙습니다 전자는 "비가 와요" 후자는 "수박이 좋아요"를 예로 보시면 되겠습니다
비슷하게 비가와요랑 눈이와요를 비교해도 좋을 것 같아요~~*_*
그냥 자음?이 붙으면 이를 쓰는ㄴ거라고 생각하면 편할까요?
